Sean Manaea's final spring start is his first Padres' start; Manny Machado homers
Jorge Alfaro was 3-for-4 and is batting .409 this spring. It would seem he has played his way onto the roster and, barring a trade, the Padres will likely carry three catchers. Alfaro is out of minor league options and must be on the roster or be released. … Manny Machado hit his second double of the spring in the first inning and his second home run of the spring in the seventh inning. He is batting .286 . … Luke Voit was 1-for-4 with two strikeouts.
He threw 66 pitches in the game and estimated he threw another 20 or so in the bullpen afterward. … Dinelson Lamet issued his first walk of the spring to start the fifth. His next two pitches were hit a long way — a home run by Sean Murphy that left the stadium beyond left field and a home run to center field by Chad Pinder. Lamet got two quick outs before walking two more and hitting the final batter he faced.
