Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) suggested that Congress should use a variety of methods to limit the power of the Supreme Court.
In an appearance on CNN on Sunday, the New York Democrat argued that the Supreme Court was compromising its own legitimacy and that she believes Congress must act to limit its power."I truly do," Ocasio-Cortez answered when asked if she believes the power of the Supreme Court justices should be limited."And this is not a new — this is not a new development in history. This is part of our system of checks and balances.
The New York Democrat then said that Congress should use every tool at its disposal against the Supreme Court, including investigations, subpoenas, and impeachments."We have a broad level of tools to deal with misconduct, overreach, and abuse of power, and the Supreme Court has not been receiving the adequate oversight necessary in order to preserve their own legitimacy," Ocasio-Cortez said.
