Newcastle United legend Alan Shearer has shared his thoughts on Pep Guardiola's side after their FA Cup win over the Magpies at the Etihad Stadium
City booked another trip to Wembley as they advanced to the FA Cup semi-finals on Saturday. Two deflected goals from Bernardo Silva saw Pep Guardiola’s side cruise through to the next round at Newcastle’s expense as the team moved a step closer to retaining the famous trophy.
“Despite the two lucky goals, they were much the better team,” Shearer told BBC Sport. “I think the simple thing is that they were better than Newcastle, and are better than Newcastle in every position. From City’s perspective, the victory extended the club’s unbeaten home record this season to 20 matches and brought the team a step closer to winning a possible quintuple. Former City defender Micah Richards shared his thoughts on the team’s dominant victory over Eddie Howe’s side.
