No one is quite sure what to say about Alabama basketball because of the uncomfortable air around the team, for obvious reasons. All the while, though, whether America likes it or not, this might be the best team left in the bracket, writes BFQuinn.

But these circumstances? Everything else? Everything around Alabama? The air is so impossibly uncomfortable that, on Friday, prior to the Tide’s second-round matchup against No. 8-seed, Miller spoke to reporters while flanked by two teammates standing by and monitoring the line of questioning. The day before, Miller and the Tide arrived at the arena flanked by an armed security guard. Oats cited online threats directed at Miller as the reason. These divergent realities share the space.

“I think the reaction is that these fans love Alabama basketball,” Miller said. “It’s not just me. Everyone in this locker room brings great energy, and that’s what the fans love.” In Saturday’s second-round matchup, Maryland did all it could to slow the Tide. The Terrapins walked the ball up the floor, slowed the pace to a crawl, kept Alabama out of transition offense. Once moving, Oats’ team often turns into a game-show wheel of options — dunks and 3s from all variety of players. The Terps managed to contain things.
