Mylett was appointed the chief of police in August 2021 after the city conducted a nationwide search. His retirement is effective as of Jan. 1, 2024.CLEVELAND, Ohio – After a little more than two years on the job, Akron Police Chief Steve Mylett is retiring, the city announced on Tuesday.
In a press release from the city, Mylett thanked Mayor Dan Horrigan, the police department and Akron citizens. “I know Steve to be a man of honor with the utmost care for the communities he has served,” he said in a statement. “Akron was lucky to have him at the helm, and I am grateful to have had him by my side through the last two years. I wish him and his family the best in their future endeavors.”
