Heading into Saturday’s 1 p.m. game at Chicago, the Dash have played only game in 2023. They started their NWSL season withThings were constantly changing last year for a Dash team that somehow found a way to qualify for the playoffs a first time. With a preseason under his belt, Laity hopes to bring stability to Houston’s NWSL team that went through three different head coaches in 2022.
“Having Sam going into the season has served as that constant, which has helped us develop as a collective,” forward Ryan Gareis said. “We’re playing under his style. He sees our strengths and helping us find our identity as a team and taking that forward into the season.” Dash goalkeeper Jane Campbell made five saves against Louisville en route to her 23rd career clean sheet, picking up player of the match honors.
“This team has a lot of growth that we’re going to make throughout the season,” defender Caprice Dydasco said. “It’s a good base we have, and we’re just going to keep growing from it. It’s encouraging.”
