NJ Transit stations are up for adoption in the revival of a program that seeks community groups and individual interested in beautifying the local depot.
The civic-minded option became available Monday when NJ Transit and American Express announced the resumption of the agency’s Adopt-a-Station program after a two-year lull.
Under the revived program, a local train station can be “adopted” by community groups that would do beautification work such as planting and caring for flowers, performing light landscaping and maintenance and removing litter. Signs at the adopted station recognize the specific community groups or individuals. The program is open to individuals, businesses, students, and local groups.
