A sign honoring the late 16-year-old Jennifer Metzger was ordered to be taken down by local and state officials, the family said.
A spokesperson for New Jersey Department of Transportation said, “The sign was removed by the family in preparation of an upcoming construction project in Woodbridge Township. The mayor of Woodbridge Township is working to find an appropriate location for the sign.” In addition to the sign at the high school, the town will erect signs honoring Metzger and promoting safe driving at other schools within the Woodbridge Township School District, McCormac said.
The Metzger family has been on a mission ever since Jennifer’s death to educate drivers about the dangers of speeding. In 2010, they established the. to promote safe driving, provide college scholarships to high school students, and assist others in need.
