The Environment Agency has also issued separate flood alerts for areas affecting Whittle-Le-Woods, Chorley, Leyland, Coppull, Eccleston, Lostock Hall, Bamber Bridge, Parbold, Tarleton and Appley Bridge
A flood warning has been issued on the Lancashire border with the residents in the affected area being told to 'act now'.
The red flood warning on the Environment Agency website states: "Flooding is expected in this area. This means properties are at risk of flooding."Please take action to protect yourself and your property and monitor local weather and river conditions. Avoid contact with, walking or driving through flood water.
A separate amber flood alert has been issued in Chorley, for the River Lostock and River Yarrow. The EA said the less severe alert means flooding is 'possible' in the area and residents should 'be prepared'.
