Prof Miller claimed "Zionist organisations" had targeted UK universities through a "censorship campaign"A retired professor said he was "aligned" with a sacked professor's views on Zionism.Mr Miller launched employment tribunal proceedings claiming unfair dismissal and discrimination on grounds of belief.
Professor George Banting, who led a fact-finding investigation into the case, told the hearing on Monday that he was "more inclined" towards Prof Miller's view that Zionism was a "racist" ideology based on "settler colonialism" but did not let that influence him.Under cross-examination, he denied acting "as a prosecutor" in the investigation and claimed he had already decided Prof Miller's views were "beyond the pale".
"It is my personal view. I was trying to keep that out of proceedings when I was doing the investigation."The hearing in Bristol had previously heard Prof Miller claim the university failed to defend him from being "attacked and defamed" over his views on Israel.
