Jennie Bond has praised the Princess of Wales for being 'courageous' in publicly confirming her cancer diagnosis - but said she's likely to have felt 'pressured' into doing so
Former Royal correspondent Jennie Bond has condemned the "social media trolls" behind recent "ghastly" rumours about the Royal family and praised Kate Middleton as "courageous," after she publicly announced she had cancer in an unprecedented and deeply moving video message to the nation on Friday evening.
Jennie, 73, was BBC News' Royal Correspondent from 1989 to 2003 and is often invited onto news programmes to share her perception of Royal events and announcements.
"But I think we should think 'what a brave young woman,'" she added. "She obviously has got a bit of a battle ahead. She's just been trying to keep her family together, keep her thoughts together, look after those precious children and my heart absolutely goes out to her. I think that everyone's estimation of her will go sky-high now."
"Just think what they've all been going through in the last few weeks... I think we must absolutely give them all now the time, and space, and as much time and space, as they want and need." In her video to the public, Princess Kate said: "I wanted to take this opportunity to say thank you, personally, for all the wonderful messages of support and for your understanding whilst I have been recovering from surgery."
