Several paragraphs are spent deftly pointing out how an unchallenged, out-of-control Texas Republican party is waging a war on renewable energy. Then, as if this were in any way similar in effect and moral bankruptcy, it is pointed out that “some progressives want to turn off fossil fuels altogether.
The idea that a third party will fix this is just magical thinking. I like Andrew Yang. I supported his primary campaigns. He has great ideas. And perhaps one day we will be in a position to build a unity party. Now — while the Democratic Party is trying to govern and the other party is bent on dictatorship — is not the time for such an experiment.The cure for Texas' ills is not a third party, but Texans who understand and use the power that they have to create the world that they want.
We need a state that allows people to vote, on their own terms; that encourages people to run for office and removes the financial barriers. Sadly, many of our officials act like reality show stars, searching for clicks and likes, rather than serving the people who elected them.
