We’ve always wanted to do our own independent concept. I’m from the Yukon and my wife is from Saskatchewan. So we wanted to do the best that we could to blend the two together and make a little pub in Saskatoon. We also own a franchise here in the city called
Haines, Alaska, a great location for salmon fishing and one of the areas that Ryan and Desiree Sutherland named their children after, and subsequently their pub. Photo taken by Ryan Sutherland. People are really receptive to the local feel of the restaurant. I’m pretty proud of what we did. I don’t think there’s anything quite like it in the city.
We try to keep as much in the province as we can. We work with a lengthy list of local suppliers from Saskatoon and Saskatchewan — We have over 40 partners now, including food, beer and liquor.We try to take well-known pub dishes and do our own little spin on them. We do offer quite a bit of wild game and fresh fish, but that’s definitely not exclusively what we offer.
