The out-of-stock percentage for baby formula hovered between 2% and 8% in the first seven months of last year, but it has been growing steadily since then and reached 23% in January.

During the week of March 13, some 29% of baby formula products were out of stock at retailers across the United States. Thousands of young babies across the country rely on formula each year. Just 25% of infants born in 2017 werein their first six months, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
