These harsh realities of rewatching Hunger Games prove that the franchise missed some glaringly obvious opportunities to make the movies better.
Summary SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY SCROLL TO CONTINUE WITH CONTENT The Hunger Games movie series stands tall in the world of young adult stories, but eight years after the release of its final film, several issues still come to light. Based on the novel series of the same name by Suzanne Collins, The Hunger Games series was made into four films, casting Jennifer Lawrence as the lead of Katniss Everdeen.
8 Mockingjay Part 1 Ruined The Series Mockingjay was published as one book, but when it came to the film series, the studio decided to break it into two: Mockingjay Part 1 and Mockingjay Part 2. The Mockingjay novel wasn't particularly longer than the two books before it, and so felt like a ploy by the studio to not only hype up the end of the highly anticipated series but to also ensure the maximum financial gain.
6 The Other Hunger Games Districts Weren't Shown Enough In the first film, most of the districts in Panem aren't shown on-screen, the only ones seen being District 12 and the Capitol. In fact, if it wasn't for the other tributes in that year's games, it could appear that Panem hadn't been split in the first place. Each district focused on a different area of trade, such as industrialization and textiles, but the entire film series didn't draw much attention to this.
4 The Hunger Games Relies On Too Many Clichés The clichés in the Hunger Games series are very prominent across all four movies, especially for Katniss Everdeen. Katniss is a great example of a dark, angry-at-the-world lead character, who takes every situation as her own personal responsibility. This can be seen in her relationship with Gale, who despite having no commitment to him, feels that she alone is the only person who can protect her family.
