The Queen has dined with Presidents Eisenhower, Ford and Bush at the White House, swapped her signature paintbox brights for traditional black to meet with Pope John Paul II in Vatican City, and became the first British sovereign to visit China in 1986.
By the time she stepped back from international travel in 2016, leaving her children and grandchildren to take up the mantle of representing the monarchy overseas, Her Majesty had visited every one of the 54 Commonwealth nations besides Cameroon and Rwanda, many on multiple occasions.
With her globetrotting days now behind her, and as more Commonwealth nations seek to establish their independence , the traditional royal tour will likely look rather different as the monarchy moves into the future. The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge represent its modern face, but when they arrived in Kingston during their official visit to the Caribbean earlier this year, they were met with protests, not flowers.
