Private high schools in the Bay Area, including Stanford Online High School and The Nueva School, dominated a recent list of the best high schools in Calif.
Private high schools in the Bay Area dominated a recent list of the best high schools in California, with local schools claiming 70% of the list’s top 10 spots. Bay Area schools accounted for 7 out of 10 spots on the annual Niche Best Schools in California list, which was published last week. Niche is a school rankings website. Stanford Online High School, an online school based in Redwood City, took second place on the list after Harvard-Westlake School in Los Angeles’ Studio City.
Other factors like test scores and college data are also considered, along with user ratings, according to the website’s methodology page. Notably, all the Bay Area schools that made Niche’s list have hefty price tags: With the exception of Stanford Online High School, every Bay Area school on the list’s top 10 has annual tuition costs above $50,000 per year, according to data from Niche.
