The 5th annual Assyrian Food Fest was held in Morton Grove Aug. 19 and 20.
The 5th Annual Assyrian Food Fest, held in Morton Grove, featured dance, food, music and vendors selling wares.
While the dancers had the floor--actually a lawn--to themselves for much of their performance, some members of the crowd couldn’t resist the beat of the traditional music and ran out to link hands with the costumed performers and join them in the circle dance. Meanwhile, dozens of volunteers staffed food and drink tents, as well as ticket and raffle booths. Posters advertising sponsors and Assyrian real estate agents, auto salespeople and other business people abounded.
Sarah, left, and Hanna Oshana, of St. Charles, who are sisters, share a laugh while explaining their za'atar spices to shoppers at the 5th Annual Assyrian Food Fest, held in Morton Grove. They have classic, sweet and spicy blends.
