U.S. attorney general blames the violence on ‘antifa and other similar extremist groups’ and says foreign actors have been involved as well.
U.S. Attorney General Bill Barr on Thursday said that authorities have made 51 arrests for federal crimes related to rioting, blaming violence at protests in response to George Floyd’s death on antifa and “other similar extremist groups,” and alleging foreign involvement as well.... [+]
But, he said, “there are groups that exploit the opportunity to engage in looting,” and “extremist agitators who are hijacking the protests to pursue their own separate and violent agenda.”
