It might be a good time to break out your binoculars, or find a friend with a telescope, because there is an opportunity to see five planets Tuesday night between the western horizon and the moon, which will be almost directly overhead when the planets become visible.First solar eclipse in six years tops list of the best celestial events you can see in Colorado in 2023
Sky gazers may be be able to locate the planet Uranus Tuesday night with binoculars. Look for Venus, which will be the brightest object in the nighttime sky except for the moon. Three other planets may be visible Tuesday night. Mars will appear just below the moon. Depending on the vantage point, it may not be dark enough to see Mars and Uranus until after Jupiter and Mercury disappear behind the mountains. Astronomy buffs warn that Jupiter and Mercury may be very difficult to see from Denver because they will be so low in the sky.
Mars will be visible as a orange-tinted object Tuesday night near the crescent moon. Venus and Uranus also will be visible Tuesday night, while Jupiter and Mercury may be visible shortly after sunset in the western sky.
