The frustration boiled over for Trent Williams
Trent Williams of the San Francisco 49ers takes the field before the NFL wild-card playoff game between the Niners and the Seattle Seahawks at Levi's Stadium on Jan. 14. Williams was ejected from Sunday's NFC championship game after he body-slammed Philadelphia Eagles safety K'Von Wallace.tackle Trent Williams was ejected from Sunday’s NFC championship game after tossing an Eagles player into the ground during a post-play scuffle.
Williams was called for an unnecessary roughness penalty after body-slamming Philadelphia safety K’Von Wallace, who was holding onto wideout Deebo Samuel. The Eagles were comfortably up 31-7 in the fourth quarter, but neither Wallace nor cornerback Josh Jobe wanted to get their hands off of Samuel. After Niners lineman Aaron Banks tried and failed to get Wallace off of his teammate, in came Williams to put a pro wrestling move on the Philadelphia player.
The move caused both teams to converge on Williams and Wallace. Of course, since the Eagles had another game in their immediate future, those players came off the bench toward the fracas with a bit less urgency than the 49ers did. After officials told both teams to return to their respective sidelines, the referee announced that both Williams and Wallace would be tossed and called for offsetting unnecessary roughness penalties.
