Good things happen when Fred Warner plays out of his mind.
In a game where the defenses were the stars of the show, San Francisco 49ers linebacker Fred Warner might have been the main event with his performance in Sunday’s 19-12 win over the Dallas Cowboys.
With the Cowboys marching down the field in the third quarter, and the score tied 9-9, Dallas called CeeDee Lamb’s number with a streak up the middle. In any other situation, quarterback Dak Prescott had the ideal look: single coverage on his best receiver from a linebacker. Unfortunately for the Cowboys player, Warner is not a typical linebacker.
Warner covered Lamb with perfection, keeping pace with one of the most explosive receivers in the NFL, and forced an incompletion on a pass that very well could have tilted the game heavily in the Cowboys’ favor.
