. According to the Reno Gazette Journal, the median price for a single-family home in Lake Tahoe jumped 22% to $950,000 in 2021, and the median sales price for condominiums in Lake Tahoe skyrocketed by 42% to $713,000.
Sue Lowe, Chase International president and corporate broker, said this trend is driven by the influx of tech workers working remotely during the COVID-19 pandemic. “People have changed their mindset on what’s important in their life since COVID so we’re seeing a tremendous amount of second-home buyers and a lot of permanent buyers we haven’t seen in the past but can now work from home going forward, especially in the tech sector,” Lowe told the Reno Gazette Journal.
