A 4-year-old boy was injured when he was shot inside a barbershop in Philadelphia’s Olney section on Sunday afternoon, police say., around 5:15 p.m., a man entered and began arguing with another man after walking to the back of the shop. Shortly after the argument, gunshots were heard, and one of those bullets stuck the 4-year-old boy in the shoulder, according to police.
There were multiple children with their parents inside the barbershop at that time getting haircuts in preparation for the first day of school Monday, according to police.After the shooting, the father of the boy put him in the car and rushed off to the hospital. While driving, police said he was involved in an accident at the intersection of 13th and Grange streets in Fern Rock.
Authorities said the driver of the other vehicle drove the father and son to the hospital after learning that the boy was wounded. The boy was admitted, where he was last reported in stable condition. Police say there are cameras inside the barbershop. One of those inside said they recognized the individual who police believe is responsible for the shooting. They gave authorities that person’s name.
