A 4-year-old boy was critically injured Thursday after being hit by a car in Washington County, police said.
The boy was riding a bicycle in the roadway at 180 North between 3700 West and 3900 West in Hurricane about 7:20 p.m. when a 2018 Kia Soul that was driving west struck the boy, Hurricane police said in a prepared statement. Police said the setting sun obscured the vision of the man who was driving the Kia.
"The driver of the vehicle has been fully cooperative during the investigation and was in fact the initial 911 caller," police said."We want to thank the Hurricane Valley Fire District for their quick response and assistance as well as the Washington County Accident Reconstruction team for their help and expertise," according to the statement.
