Mike Young, who has worked at the North Richland Hills Police Department for 38 years, has been promoted to serve as the city's police chief.
Mike Young will now lead the same department he has worked at for almost 40 years,Young, who joined the North Richland Hills Police Department in 1985, has managed every division of the department, according to a Tuesday news release. Young, an assistant chief, had been leading the department following former Police Chief Jimmy Perdue’s retirement in May, the release stated.
“I look forward to continuing to work with the dedicated men and women of the North Richland Hills Police Department, our regional partners, and the community to ensure the safety and well-being of everyone in our community,” Young said in a written statement.The department awarded Young the Medal of Honor in 1989. He became a sergeant in 1997 and in 1999 was promoted to lieutenant, and later, captain. He was made assistant chief in 2013.
