Thirty-seven students in the Bay Area have received national gold medals through
, the longest-running and most prestigious competition of its kind in the country, while another 43 students earned silver medals. This year, the competition received more than 400,000 submissions from students in grades 7-12 across the United States.are eligible for scholarships of up to $12,500, along with recognition in a New York-based awards ceremony and through Scholastic’s traveling exhibition.
Two Bay Area students were also given additional awards: Samika Agarwal, a senior at Saratoga High School, received an Americans Vision Medal for her photographic piece. Ashir Rao, a junior at Los Gatos High, was awarded an American Voices Medal for his written piece,In addition, nearly 400 students in the Bay Area earned “gold key” awards through Scholastic’s regional art award competition, including Saratoga High School senior Apoorva Talwalkar.
