Rumours suggest that 343 Industries will no longer be the primary developer on Halo going forward - and that the core games in the franchise will no longer have story campaigns.
If new rumours are true it’s one that Microsoft has accepted, with a report suggesting that 343 will be taken off ‘active development’ of the Halo series and will merely oversee other third party studios as they create new games and content.
More than that, it’s suggested that the decision has already been made that single-player only content for Halo is no longer cost effective, at least when made by 343, and that initial plans for story-based DLC for Halo Infinite have already been cancelled. As you might imagine, this means additional job losses at 343, with the initial rumour suggesting they could lose around a third of their current workforce.
