52% of consumers are avoiding crowds and 32% are leaving their house less often because of coronavirus. Companies who have successfully positioned themselves to find opportunities in the coronavirus-driven market stand to come out ahead over the long haul.
The pandemic has also defined a category of products deemed “new essentials” which are products that can help consumers feel more comfortable and productive under stay-at-home orders. New essentials include office supplies, fitness equipment, health supplies, cosmetics, housewares, home improvement, toys, and hobby-related products. Toys and games shipments are up 66.51% month over month.
Unsurprisingly, fitness product sales benefited from the stay-at-home orders, and orders are up 112.23% month over month. While Zoom and Google Meet have many capabilities in common, such as screen sharing, real-time captions, and a tiled layout, there are some distinct differences between the two. The biggest difference is that Meet users will need a Google account in order to participate in meetings. While this might add some wrinkles for some users, the company doesn’t expect it to be a big barrier for most people.
With daily participants surpassing the 100 million mark last week, Meet is likely poised to see a strong surge in the coming weeks.Another industry that stands to benefit from the pandemic is visual team collaboration. With more teams working from home than ever before, management and company owners need to focus on how to create their new digital cultures.
