21-acre brush fire in Oceanside 60 percent contained [Breaking]
that charred 21 acres of brush, threatened shopping centers and damaged a house was 60 percent contained Monday, fire officials said.
The fire started about 2:25 p.m. Sunday on the edge of a marshy wetland known as Talone Lake, near Frazee Road and Mission Avenue. Homeless encampments are known to pop up in the area, officials said.Firefighters contained the fire, only to notice a second fire a short distance away. Thick brush made it hard for crews to reach the fire, which spread quickly, officials said.Crews reported flames up to 30 feet high, officials said.
