Two new COVID-19 testing sites opened in Anchorage on Thursday, adding more options for those in the city seeking a test.

One drive-up site is now offering free PCR testing at 3200 Mountain View Drive, at the Special Olympics Alaska building, according to officials with Beacon Occupational Health and Safety Services. It’s open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday. The site is closed on Sundays.
Another new site, at 800 Cordova St. downtown, offers drive-up testing via appointment only. That site is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday. Appointments can be made atThe two sites, which are operated by Beacon, have a 24-hour testing turnaround time. Beacon is asking that those seeking a test have insurance information ready if applicable, though exposure and symptomatic testing is free.
