A crash involving a tanker carrying fuel and a tractor trailer caused a large fire and traffic on U.S. Highway 75 in Plano on Wednesday morning.
The blaze appeared to be extinguished by 8:45 a.m. but the remains of the tractor trailer blocked the lanes the remainder of the morning, according to live traffic cameras showing the scene. By 12:30 p.m., three of the four lanes were reopened to traffic.
Delays were also occurring in the southbound lanes, though the fire never extended into them. About an hour after the crash, Google Maps showed a roughly eight-mile stretch of traffic backed up on the highway leading up to the fire.A tractor-trailer fire blocked northbound lanes on US 75 near Parker Road in Plano the morning of Aug. 2, 2023.Plano police are asking people who may have witnessed the crash to contact them at 972-424-5678 to provide a written statement.
