Many of us are having serious and complex conversations with our friends and family right now. There’s a lot of content to sift through and a lot to be said. But feeling overwhelmed isn’t a reason to tune out or drop out of these important conversations.
and police brutality going on right now, lots of us are having serious and complex conversations with people in our lives. Odds are you’re currently in at least one group chat with friends or family, perhaps largely white, who could use some guidance right now. Many of us are struggling to understand our place and role in all this, the issues at hand, or how to help.
Fortunately, there are a ton of incredible resources out there to address all of these conversations and more. First of all: Let’s take a minute to recognize the fact we live in a time where it’s actually possible to get overwhelmed by the sea ofat our fingertips, thanks to the work of Black people who have created them for us all to learn from.
At the same time, it’s understandable to feel overwhelmed by the amount of content being shared right now and the discussions popping off on your phone. There’s a lot to sift through and a lot to be said. But feeling overwhelmed isn’t a reason to tune out or drop out of these important conversations. It’s a reason to commit ourselves to understanding what’s happening all around us and how we can act to combat anti-blackness.

And remember that when we make use of guides and information put together by Black people for our education, we owe them for the time, labor, and energy they’ve invested in these resources.
