There's a number of big events, gigs and shows taking place in Manchester this October
In case you didn't receive the message, autumn is finally here. The days of dining al fresco and after-work pints in the beer garden may now be a distant memory, but the change of seasons brings with it a whole host of new and exciting events and activities.
RHS Garden Bridgewater is the place to go if you want to experience the beauty of this transitional season. It boasts gardens, woodland and lakeside walks where you can admire nature's autumnal displays. Bolton International Film Festival You’ve probably heard of Venice, Cannes and Sundance film festivals, but there’s one much closer to home. Bolton International Film festival celebrates films from both home and abroad and features industry talks, masterclasses and networking sessions.
Food wise, there's Omakase menus as late-night dining options. There will also be a rather large Champagne collection, plus sake and cocktails to enjoy at their world-class bar. Manchester Literature Festival From October 7 until October 22 big names from the world of books will descend upon an array of venues across the city for Manchester Literature Festival. This year’s lineup includes Zadie Smith, Max Porter, Kate Mosse, Simon Armitage, Annie Macmanus and Yanis Varoufakis, to name but a few.
Here in Manchester there will be a a Bridgerton-themed painting workshop and panel discussion will take place in Central Library, a Black Indie Comic Festival bringing together comic book writers and illustrators, and the Black Creative Soirée - a spectacular evening celebrating Black creatives, plus lots more. You can find the full listing here.
Over at Albert's Schloss, there will be a wide selection of guest beers on offer, as well as Oktoberfest-themed showtime entertainment including oompah, brass and marching bands. There will also be wiener eating competitions and Bavarian feasts including a Smörgåsbord of roast pork, chicken schnitzel and bratwurst.
During the interactive, walk-through attraction terrifying monsters and creepy characters will roam the site, which has been transformed with spooky set pieces. There will be 10 scary zones packed full of live actors which are guaranteed to make you jump. Programmed and operated by the creative team behind Manchester International Festival , the £240m arts venue will also host Manchester music legend Johnny Marr with an orchestra of northern musicians, and Manc duo Children of Zeus, hosting special guests and emerging talent.
Pumpkin Patches There’s no two better words matched together than Autumn and Halloween. There’s no more ideal way to get into the spooky season than carving out a pumpkin - but first you’re going to need to pick out one.
