Enjoy a day out at Camelot A trip to Camelot theme park would have been the highlight in any schoolkids' calendar back in the '80s. Set in the time period of King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table, the pseudo-medieval theme park that opened in 1983 near Chorley would see half a million visitors a year in its heyday.
Spend the day shopping at Botany Bay Once one of Lancashire's shopping gems, the Botany Bay shopping centre just off the M61 in Chorley occupied five floors of a converted Victorian mill. There shoppers could spend the day sampling local produce in the food hall, or shopping from a vast selection of stores.
