Harrison Ford's Indie has a lot of copycats.
In fairness to the movies that shamelessly ripped off Indiana Jones, creator George Lucas took inspiration from earlier works as well. Borrowing ideas from prior stories and characters is part and parcel of the creative process of filmmaking. Sometimes, this results in blatantly shameless copies that don't offer much else except a rehash of already known and established tropes, with some Indie ripoffs even crossing over into so-bad-it's-good territory.
9 The Rundown One of the many action movies that get more hate than they deserve, The Rundown stars Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson as a bounty hunter charged with retrieving his boss's son, a treasure hunter played by Seann William Scott. Their respective fates are upended when they get involved with the golden idol called The Devil's Cat, an expensive artifact coveted by several dangerous characters.
6 National Treasure With National Treasure 3 reportedly in development over a decade after the release of the second movie National Treasure: Book of Secrets, the first National Treasure movie is undoubtedly one of the more successful movies that ripped off Indiana Jones. Starring Nicolas Cage as a historian, cryptographer, and treasure hunter, National Treasure stands out from other Indiana Jones ripoffs by giving the old Indy formula a decidedly American twist.
3 Sahara Similar to the National Treasure movies, Sahara uses elements from America's history to add a new flavor to the classic Indiana Jones formula. In Sahara, Matthew McConaughey and Penélope Cruz play a rugged adventurer and a doctor in search of a lost stash of Confederate gold - last seen aboard the CSS Texas which is somewhere in the Atlantic Ocean.
