A Wylie woman was sentenced Thursday to 75 years in prison for the months-long sadistic torture of a 24-year-old she tricked into living with her, according to the Collin County district attorney’s office.
In July 2021, Calderon caught the woman sneaking food from the house. Calderon punished the woman by locking her in a dog crate and pouring boiling water on her, injuring her legs, according to the DA’s office. Calderon also poured boiling water on the woman during an argument later that year, severely burning her arms, chest and back.
Her stepfather called 911 and went to the trailer, where Collin County sheriff’s deputies had to remove stacked stones from the door to get the woman out. The woman weighed 68 pounds, had a shaved head and was covered in second- and third-degree burns, the district attorney’s office said.During the trial, the DA’s office said, a doctor testified the woman had to spent six weeks in a hospital to recover from her injuries and malnourishment.
