BREAKING 'Unnecessary': Harris Co. pushes back on assertion that votes won't be counted in time | Officials say deadline will be met
HARRIS COUNTY, Texas -- Harris County election officials believe they will meet the deadline to count Primary Election ballots Wednesday, despite a statement from the Secretary of State Tuesday evening.
Scott said that damaged ballot sheets across the county needed to be duplicated before they can be scanned by ballot tabulators at the central count location, causing delays. He said the county would not meet the deadline required by state law to get the votes counted. Stevens emphasized that the paper ballots slow down the process for everyone -- voters and election workers alike.WATCH: Harris County workers were confident Wednesday morning that the deadline to get the votes counted would be met.
