Pebble Beach is one of the world’s most famous sporting venues, a cultural landmark as much a symbol of California’s stunning coastline as a stage for major championships. “Honestly, our counterparts are as supportive as anyone. They look at female golfers, and I’m sure the consensus would be, ‘Of course they should be playing on these courses.’ ”
Pebble Beach’s arrival on the scene, after years of false starts and stalled anticipation, should have a tangible impact in expanding the audience for LPGA players. NBC will televise next weekend’s third and fourth rounds in prime time on the East Coast , a first for women’s golf.
