Now that the Deshaun Watson trade is official, Cleveland Browns Watson jerseys have gone on sale online.
The Browns made the trade for Watson official on March 20 in a news release announcing the deal with the Houston Texans, which is both blockbuster and controversial in nature given more than 20 women have accused him of sexual misconduct. The Browns, who also receive a 2024 fifth round draft pick from the Texans, are giving up their first round picks in 2022, 2023 and 2024, as well as their third round pick in 2023 and fourth round pick in 2024.
Watson, a first round pick in 2017, has been selected to three Pro Bowls and led the NFL in passing yards in 2020 with 4,823.The Browns yet to finalized plans for Watson’s introductory press conference, but provided their first statements Sunday on one of the most controversial acquisitions in the history of the NFL in a release.
“We spent a tremendous amount of time exploring and investigating the opportunity to trade for Deshaun Watson,’’ owners Dee and Jimmy Haslam said in the release. “We are acutely aware and empathetic to the highly personal sentiments expressed about this decision. Our team’s comprehensive evaluation process was of utmost importance due to the sensitive nature of his situation and the complex factors involved.
