Pirates second baseman Ji Hwan Bae’s 100.6-mph liner in the sixth inning caught Misiewicz flush near his left ear, then ricocheted all the way into right field for a game-tying single.
Misiewicz then sat on a cart and was wheeled off the field. Yankees players, including captain Aaron Judge, slapped hands with the hurting pitcher as he was started his cart ride from the mound to a ballpark exit in right field foul territory.Misiewicz, 28, was pitched in his third game for the Yankees following a Sept. 10 recall from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.The Detroit native has pitched for three major-league clubs this season, the Diamondbacks, Tigers and Yankees.
