DeSantis left Washington, D.C., on Tuesday after meeting with GOP lawmakers and donors at the Heritage Foundation, likely as a way to garner Republican support should he enter the 2024 race. After meeting with the governor, however, Rep. Lance Gooden surprised many by throwing his weight behind Trump.However, DeSantis did secure an endorsement from Rep. Laurel Lee , marking his first congressional endorsement from his state.
