The top-seeded Bruins (30-2), vying for their first title since 2006, have won 11 matches in a row since a loss to the two-time defending national champion Rainbow Warriors (29-2) in early March.
The UCLA men’s volleyball team takes an 11-match win streak into its national championship match, but the team that will be across the net Saturday is the last one to beat the Bruins.
The teams met just once this season, on the final day of the Outrigger Invitational on March 11 in Honolulu. Hawaii won in four sets, 29-27, 21-25, 25-22, 28-26, in front of a sold-out crowd of 10,300 at the Stan Sheriff Center. The Warriors outhit the Bruins .273 to .268 that night, but UCLA had more aces and more blocks . Ido David led the Bruins with a season-high 21 kills, while Dimitrios Mouchlias had 22 to pace Hawaii.
