Capitals Coach Spencer Carbery responded to middling performances by shaking up all four forward lines Tuesday.
Two games into the season, Spencer Carbery is becoming concerned about the Capitals’ offense. After scoring 20 goals in six preseason games, Washington has now scored just two goals in the regular season — and both came inNever miss a goal or a touchdown. “The offensive concepts that we’re bringing in and that we’re talking about, we’re dialed,” Carbery said after the final preseason game. “We see them right away. … I won’t bore you with the Xs and Os, but we got a good grasp on them very early in training camp.” “Just trying to find a little bit more from essentially the top nine,” Carbery said. “Get a different look. Two games in, we have a decent sample size now. There’s some specific things that I won’t get into that we’re looking for from each individual guy. We’re just looking to get a little bit of a different look going into Ottawa.”Carbery said Monday night that his team is still “trying to find it” from an offensive standpoint. Backstrom agreed Tuesday morning.
“I didn’t think line was great last night,” Carbery said. “I don’t think they were an issue. I just didn’t think they generated much. … A lot of their entry stuff was just getting stalled. Whether it was a turnover or a puck that hit a skate and now they had to defend, it was constantly like they were tracking for the majority of the night.”
