The cause of Monday night's fire in northern Lycoming County has not been determined.

The fire, which broke out shortly after 10:30 p.m., sent flames three-fourths of the way up the 150-foot rig. No one was injured. For most of the volunteer firefighters from two counties who responded it was their first experience with this type of fire and it prompted O’Connors to a lengthy thank you on his Facebook page:
“To hear the words of the drilling boss say how impressed he was of how quick we got on scene considering we are all volunteers and the rig was at least four miles more back up into the mountain and 11 miles from nearest fire station.
