After an investigation lasting two years, TikTok has been fined €345 million for a series of privacy violations relating to the way it handles children's data.
it's violated eight articles of the GDPR. These cover everything from the lawfulness of data processing and data security to the access rights of data subjects.
A feature called Family Pairing, designed to allow parents to link to their over-16 child's account and use Direct Messages allowed any adult to pair up, with obvious potential risks to the child. Along with a €345 million fine, TikTok has been issued with a reprimand, and ordered to change its practices within three months.
