Airplane coffee is bad. Alaska Airlines worked with Stumptown to make it better.
For travelers eyeing the drink cart, the recommendation of health and food safety experts is clear: Don’t go for the in-flight coffee. Even if the water is clean, you’re likely sharing a mediocre commodity cup from a communal pot. While that may work at your favorite diner or gas station, it might not be a comfort thousands of feet in the air.
“Every aspect, from the coffee’s blend ratio to its grind, was meticulously considered to ensure a truly exceptional in-flight coffee experience,” Todd Traynor-Corey, the airline’s managing director of guest products, said in a statement to The Washington Post. The medium roast is meant to evoke dark chocolate, toasted marshmallow and browned butter flavors. The company’s Trapper Creek roast will also be available as a decaf option.
Michelman said it’s important for airlines to prioritize their coffee offerings because it shows attention to detail and care for the overall flight experience.
