College Football National Championship pledges $5M to help retain, recruit Houston-area teachers

With the College Football National Championship coming to NRG Stadium next year, officials said they expect the sporting event to bring in more than $200 million in revenue. More than $5 million of that is expected to go to Houston area school districts for future and existing teachers, said Britton Banowsky, executive director of the College Football Playoff Foundation.

"Legacy is something that lasts, legacy is something that you can see well into the future, that's engrained in the community," Massey said."That's not always something that's achieved through these one-time sporting events."These Houston ISD campuses have the highest failure rates, according to the TEA. Here's why.

The organization is hosting an event Friday at the St. Arnold's Brewery, where teachers will be able to receive $100,000 in resources.
