Residents of El Monte, California, have six days left to apply for a guaranteed income program that could give them $500 every month for a year.
A total of 125 applicants will be selected for the program, which is intended for mothers in the city. Applications for the program opened on March 27 and will close on April 15, according to the city."Individuals selected to participate in the program will be issued a debit card," a city manager's office representative told the Washington Examiner."Every month, the city will load $500 on the debit card.
The recipients of this program will be selected by April 26, and the city anticipates the first payment will be sent out on June 1, according to the spokesperson.To be eligible, an applicant must live within the city limits of El Monte, be a single female head of household with no spouse or partner in the house, and have children younger than 17.
Those interested in applying for this program can do so either in person at the city manager's office, online, or by mail.
