Spirit’s stock heads for biggest gain in three years, enough to lead all NYSE gainers
Shares of Spirit AeroSystems Holdings Inc. soared Wednesday, after the aircraft components maker said it entered into a “Memorandum of Agreement” with Boeing Co. to smooth out production issues.
Spirit’s stock SPR, +25.00% rocketed 24.1% in morning trading, enough to pace all the gainers listed on the New York Stock Exchange. It was also on track for the best one-day percentage performance since it shot up 25.2% on March 25, 2020. The expanded production pact comes after the companies disclosed on Aug. 24 quality issues with the Boeing 737 Max aircraft that led to delivery delays. That disclosure had sent Spirit’s stock tumbling 35.4% to an 11-year closing low of $14.84 on Sept. 21.
